The Artheal Foundation held its annual Healed in Nairobi on Sunday. They’re a foundation that specializes in using entertainment arts to bring healing to those who are suffering from mental health problems. They invite various artists to come and perform in an effort to minister art therapy to the audience.
Healed 2022 summit was titled Dadversations because it coincided with Father’s Day. There were seven performing artists such as dj Moz, NTV Business Presenter Dan Mwangi known by his stage name as Number 8, Kendi Ashitiva, Joyce Wanjiku, Gifted Music and others.
There was acapella, spoken word poems, praise and worship songs, skits, dance and other forms of art.
“It’s nice to just enjoy music and beautiful forms of art and take it as a form of therapy,” said Lativa one of the attendants.
Planned Parenthood
Planned Parenthood have chosen Kenya as one of the four African countries which they will roll out their new IDEA initiative.
“Planned Parenthood works with partner organizations in sub- Saharan African and Latin American countries to advance sexual and reproductive health and rights in our partner’s countries. Everywhere we work, Planned Parenthood Global partners with on the ground leaders, individuals and grass-root organizations to advance reproductive rights, spark and sustain progress at the leading edge of the SRHR movement,” says Planned Parenthood.
The other African countries chosen are Uganda, Burkina Faso, and Senegal.
The IDEA initiative is geared to challenge African entrepreneurs, technology experts, communication gurus and social impact investments to solve problems that relate to sexual and reproductive health.
Planned Parenthood listed different issues that they want to tackle with this new initiative, “in solving the most persistent and entrenched issues in reproductive health: access, information, decision-making, citizen engagement, and social support. The overall purpose is to promote sustainable social enterprises to respond to the region’s needs in terms of reproductive health and rights,” writes PP.
This pilot will run for 6 months to a year in Kenya and Uganda with an intention to extend to other East African countries such as Burundi, Rwanda, DRC and others. IDEA is targeting to bring synergies across the following ecosystems:
- Digital Media
2. Communications
3. Technology
4. Sexual and reproductive rights
5. Social impact and entrepreneurship
6. Public relations
Once connected, these ecosystems will be charged to co-create innovative solutions to meet challenges in sexual and reproductive health.
