Top 10 NGOs in utilization of funds in Kenya according to NGO board

According to the NGO annual report, there was a huge increase in funding for projects in the 2021/2022 financial year compared to the previous year. The report uncovered that  NGOs spent a cumulative total of Ksh 118 billion in project implementation. Out of that, Ksh 102 billion was spent on projects in Kenya. This is a 44% increase from last year when NGOs utilized Ksh 70.7 billion.

The following International NGOs led in the utilization of funds on projects.

  1. GiveDirectly Kenya – Ksh 6,657,464,008.00
  2. World Vision Kenya – Ksh 5,394,320,350.00
  3. Compassion International Kenya – Ksh 5,260,976,864.00
  4. AMREF Health Africa in Kenya – Ksh 4,633,969,363.50
  5. Catholic Relief Services – Ksh 3,570,978,249.97
  6. International Rescue Committee – Ksh 3,531,441,505.98
  7. The African Academy of Sciences (AAS) – Ksh 3,211,744,320.00
  8. Lay Volunteers International Association – Ksh 2,609,919,207.00
  9. Childfund Kenya – Ksh 1,945,399,380.88
  10. Plan International – Ksh 1,745,153,828.00

The following ten national NGOs were ranked best in terms of spending and utilization of funds in the financial year 2021/2022:

  1. Center for International Health, Education and Biosecurity- Kenya – Ksh 2,875,527,936.00
  2. Centre for Health Solutions – Kenya – Ksh 2,382,717,252.55
  3. LVCT Health – Ksh 862,176,748.90
  4. SOS Children’s Village Kenya – Ksh 737,680,400.72
  5. Population Services Kenya – Ksh 663,166,942.00
  6. Hope Worldwide Kenya – Ksh 571,456,233.00
  7. Mkomani Clinic Society – Ksh 516,353,687.00
  8. Lwala Community Health Center – Ksh 484,530,508.00
  9. Ral Agency for Community Development and Assistance (RACIDA) – Ksh 409,715,151.00
  10. Association for the Physically Disabled Of Kenya – Ksh 400,253,819.00

This spending had a profound effect on the growth in spending on different sectors. According to the report, the following sectors experienced a surge in spending.

3. Others (multi-sectoral) 10.77 billion 2.46 billion 338%
4. Road Safety 72.9 million 21.76 million 235%
5. Gender 2.66 billion 939.39 million 184%
