Action Aid celebrates 50 years
Yesterday Action Aid celebrated 50 years of operations in Kenya. The NGO which specializes in fighting poverty and defending the rights of women started working in Kenya in 1972. Action Aid’s 50th birthday was held at the Sarova Panafric which was open for all. A single ticket was going for Ksh 5000 while there were different sponsorship packages for different organizations.
Amnesty International the Ten freedom legal clinics
In the run up to Huduma Day, Amnesty International in partnership with the Law Society of Kenya have announced legal clinics to be held in ten places. Eight of those clinics will be outside Nairobi while two will be within Nairobi.
“The ten freedom and legal empowerment clinics will provide free legal advice to people normally deprived of such services and are part of four activities marking Amnesty’s 10th anniversary after two decades of protecting human rights in Kenya,” wrote Amnesty.
The empowerment clinics will take place in Nakuru, Mombasa, Eldoret, Kisumu, Siaya, Malindi Garissa and Bungoma.
