The Eastleigh-based Community-Based Organization Oasis Ladies took Eid blessings to Islamia Orphan Children’s Centre based in Kariobangi. The children’s home which currently accommodates at least 100 orphans welcomed the 30-member Oasis Ladies which is led by their chairperson Zahra Mohammed.
Monday was the conclusion of the Muslim holy month of Ramadhan therefore the CBO went to share food, clothing, shopping and important necessities. The CBO has been visiting the orphanage for the third straight year now and this has brought a huge impact on the children’s lives.
The centre’s head Bakari Juma hailed the support that Oasis Ladies has been giving them over the years, “We want to thank our mothers, the Oasis Ladies for supporting and standing with us over the many years that we have worked together. Their support goes a long way. We also want to thank the Muslims and non-muslims who’ve also given us a helping hand,” said Juma.
Juma says that such support is crucial at this point in time because they’re admitting more orphans now than ever because of the tough economic challenges that continue to prevail here in Kenya and the world at large.
One of the girls who grew up at the centre was grateful that the centre through the help of Oasis Ladies has progressed in her studies that now she is pursuing her Bachelor’s degree at Masai Mara University.
The Oasis Ladies chairlady said that they love making a difference in the orphans’ lives by providing food, visiting them in hospital and supporting their education.
